Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella Keynote on Day 1 Microsoft Building 2022, This Tuesday, highlight Power Pages created by the Portuguese. This is how the initiative to support Ukrainian refugees in Portugal gained exposure on a global scale, at Microsoft’s annual event focused on the community Developers.

Platform “Ukraine Live Aid”, which can be accessed at, which began in March and already includes more than 100 institutions in 17 Portuguese provinces. Through an interactive map, users can see places and entities that accept donations to support refugees, in real time, as well as submit New applications for integration into the platform.

In the words of the founder of Ukraine Living Aid, Edgar Simões, Power Platform Support Engineer at Microsoft Portugal: This project was born out of a desire to support Ukrainian refugees. The pandemic has shown us that technology serves its purpose best when it is at the service of people in times of social emergency, and this time I decided to take action. I realized that there is a lot of data scattered about donation centers in the national territory. Even with limited knowledge in Microsoft Power Pages and almost zero in programming, I developed the first version of the app in a weekend. The platform is based on the concept of open innovation, where users can interact in the community, express an opinion and put different entities on the map, allowing the initiative to expand.”

Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsofthighlighted the podium at the opening of the conference: “We’ve already seen people using Power Pages to do much-needed meaningful work. In Portugal, Edgar Simويسes wanted to encourage people to donate goods to help receive refugees. You’ve used Power Pages to host and build your app, which allows you to run a website without any knowledge of HTML or the web. It went from an idea to a real impact in just a few days.”
