Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná (Unioeste) is the newest higher education institution in Brazil accredited to receive additional and free courses from Huawei ICT Academy.
The partnership allows professors and students of the institution – associated with ICT courses – to obtain training sponsored by the Chinese multinational, known in Brazil as a provider of products and services in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
“This partnership is very important for our academics and professors because Huawei is one of the leading technology companies in the world. For our students, access to training with the best equipment and technology we have in the world is essential for professional training,” explains Unioeste Dean, Alexander Almeida Weber. The institution consists of 5 campuses located in the municipalities of Cascavel, Foz do Iguaçu, Francisco Beltrão, Marechal Cândido Rondon and Toledo, as well as the Rectory and University Hospital, also located in the city of Cascavel.
The agreement was reached thanks to the work of FiberX – a company that has been in the South since 2008 – which is also responsible for the process of bringing together educational entities, technology companies and their providers.
“FiberX’s business philosophy is to connect projects with innovative ideas to the academy, creating the perfect space for taking plans off paper that includes innovation, networking and experience sharing,” says Luiz Puppin, Head of Training Center at FiberX, whose administrative headquarters are in Itapema (SC).
With Huawei’s certification, future IT professionals leaving Unioeste will be able to make a difference in their curriculum and expand their competitiveness to work with the latest technologies, such as 5G networks – in which Huawei is emerging as a leader – the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
“The additional courses offered by Huawei ICT Academy have the potential to raise the employment level of recent graduates, which is beneficial to universities and employers, which can reduce the costs of training their teams,” Luiz Puppin explains.
“In this partnership, we have succeeded in bringing benefits to our students and also to Huawei. Making students aware of all of these company products allows them to choose from the resources already available. So it is a mutually beneficial partnership and very important for Unioeste, a public university looking Always up to date on the latest things in the world for students and professors,” adds Dean Alexander Almeida Weber.
